This is a solid novella-length story. This quick story packs a punch. He is unable to keep this terrible secret from Belle and when she finds out she returns to the Castle in his place. The words and phrasing are a bit different, because it was translated from French into English, but I found it very beautiful.

I’m kind of surprised that no gabrielle-sjzanne written that yet. The first half of the book was really well written and was really promising, gabrielle-szanne then the second half of the book went completely off track. It is only after she discovers that Beauty is really a princess that she accepts her. From the standpoint of a modern reader, it’s not what we expect from a novel–nowadays and author can’t just spend half the book on backstory that has been tagged on at the end.

I think it could have been much more interesting had it been an intrical part of the beginning of the story. I was confused by why what was happening in the story and then when it gets explained I was even more ahd and decided I preferred the earlier part of the story. The women in the story are all power players, though not at the expense of the men, and while none of the Fairies were given names, unlike what one of the other reviewers complained about, it’s not difficult to tell them apart. And Beauty finally villemeuve she loves him and agrees to marry him which breaks the curse, instead of the kiss in the movie.

I like this version of the classic tale. Gabrielle-Suzanne de Villeneuve published both fairy tales and novels. Fairies, good and bad have a lot of involvement in the plot and influence most of what happens in the lives of the characters.
